Summary
Description
Join Kathleen Lewis, SJPT Special Projects Director, and other Preservation Trust staff for a summertime tour of different habitats where we care for two amazing conservation-dependent species: Western Bluebirds and Island Marble Butterflies.
For this guided outing, we will visit an Island Marble Butterfly patch on the south end of San Juan Island, where, if we are incredibly lucky, we may see an Island Marble Butterfly—but if not, you will learn about SJPT’s long-term conservation efforts on the recovery of this species. We will then travel through the lovely San Juan Valley to private land where we will hope to view nesting Western bluebirds and you will gain deeper insight into SJPT’s 18 years of dedication to the restoration of this beautiful native songbird back to its historic home.
We will be utilizing a bus from San Juan Transit that will be located at the parking lot at the San Juan County District Courthouse, where there will be street parking around to utilize. Please plan to be at the bus between 8:45 and 9, so we can have everyone loaded up and ready to leave at 9. This event is free and open to everybody.
