Summary
Description
Join Ruthie Dougherty, SJPT Preserve Curator/Interpretive Specialist, and special guest, Peter Zika, for a wonderfully wet outing at the Ellis Preserve on Shaw Island.
While our islands are defined by the Salish Sea, freshwater wetlands play an essential role in the health and diversity of the archipelago. Join botanist Peter Zika on a ramble to identify riparian features at the Ellis Preserve and learn about wetland plants with unique functions, adaptations, and historic uses.
Peter is an engaging presenter and renowned field biologist from Seattle. He teaches wetland plant identification and conducts biological inventories at National Parks, National Wildlife Refuges, and Nature Conservancy preserves.
