Volunteer: Seeding for IMB - Round 2

Description

handful_salish_seeds.jpg

For this event, we will be focusing on planting and collecting the seeds of native plants the Island Marble Butterfly historically have used for food and protection in two out of three of our suitable habitat plots on San Juan Island. We will start at Sundstrom Farm Preserve, then move to Frazer Homestead Preserve.

The grounds are relatively flat with a few uneven patches, but could possibly be muddy and puddled in some areas if it has been raining. SJPT will supply necessary tools, but please bring your own gloves.

We will provide snacks, but please bring your own water and lunch and arrange your own transportation out to Red Mill Farm, 290 Valley Farms Rd. From there, we will carpool using SJPT and personal vehicles, and split our time between the two preserves. Details on how to get there will be sent with a confirmation email closer to the event date.
