Guided Tour of the North Shore Preserve
You may have heard about the new North Shore Preserve on Orcas Island, owned and managed by the San Juan County Conservation Land Bank, but if you haven't, there's more information below.
The new preserve is located within one of the county’s highest priority regions for salmon recovery. Its vital nearshore environment features mature forest, wetlands, 1,800 feet of shoreline, and a half-acre of tidelands that support eelgrass and forage fish. Conservation Land Bank staff will lead tours to provide the public with opportunities to visit. To sign up for a scheduled tour, click here.
The preserve is otherwise closed to the public until preparations to provide for future public access and natural resource protection, are complete. We are grateful for all the community support and we ask for your continued cooperation (and patience) as we transition into ownership. Please respect our new neighbors, their privacy and property rights. The beaches to the east and west are private, and there is no overland access to Point Doughty.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please call 360-378-4402 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
