Shaw Island, WA 98286

Help kick off the volunteer stewardship season by joining SJPT staff to remove invasive English holly at the Ellis Preserve on Shaw Island.

Help us pull as much English holly as we can in selected corridors around the Marilyn and Fred Ellis Preserve! Holly is an aggressive plant that is not native to this region and it can outcompete the native vegetation in various ecosystem types, so we appreciate any help we can get helping to deal with this unwanted specimen.

Our work will focus on systematic clean sweeps of small, priority plots as part of the ongoing process of controlling this aggressive invasive species. Hand pulling, grubbing and cutting methods will be used.
