Walk n' Talk: Photography Class on Turtleback Mountain
Join us for a creative and educational hike on Orcas Island’s iconic Turtleback Mountain Preserve! This special outing will be co-led by Orcas Island photographer Peter Fisher and SJPT’s Director of Communications and Outreach Kelvin Baker, who will offer tips on landscape photography techniques, composition, and storytelling through images. Whether you're using a DSLR or a smartphone, all experience levels are welcome!
Along the way, SJPT Land Steward Troy Buckley will provide insights into the history and ecology of Turtleback Mountain Preserve, as well as stewardship efforts that have taken place over the years.

This event is limited to the first 18 people who sign up. (You can join the waiting list when you sign up if capacity has been reached. If there are cancellations, we will contact the next in line as soon as possible.
Date: Tuesday, July 29, 2025
Time: 11:00am – 2:00pm
Trail Difficulty: Moderate. Approximately 4 miles round-trip with some steep sections and uneven terrain. 1,200+ feet of elevation gain.
Location: South trailhead entrance, Turtleback Mountain Preserve, Orcas Island (additional meeting location details will be provided upon registration)
Bring: Water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection (hat, sunscreen), and snacks if desired.
